Bittersweet Harvest

What a beautiful Sunday! the sun is shinning and it is 65 degrees! I have been waiting for this weeks! A perfect day to go out in the woods and harvest some bittersweet vines! So I dug out my rubber boots (I like to think of them as my poison ivy busters) and headed to my secret spot...shhh. sorry I can't tell where this is....
I did really well, a wheel barrow full! I added some to my white picket fence...Tomorrow I will start filling totes and the mantle inside my house... Did I say how I love this time of year???

Love the boots! Are those "Wellies"? You can tell I'm not a gardner. But I should be. I love being out in the spring and the fall. (notice I left out 2 of the 4 seasons?)And I love picket fences. My sister bought me a 2-shelf little cabinet that is made from picket fences. White of course. Enjoy the cool weather! And let's hope we don't get an Indian Summer!

I love your 'poison ivy busters'! They are so cute! I can't believe you have a secret place for bittersweet. It looks great hanging on your white picket fence.

Happy Autumn!!!

Gail,

Your bittersweet looks great. I am the self proclaimed "Queen of Bittersweet" and it is heavily berried this year. I also have secret spots, but with all the development, road widenings etc many of the best spots are being lost. I haven't harvested any yet as it has been very hot here still, but maybe next weekend.

I love that time of year too! We've just started Spring, with the promise of a long, hot, dry Summer ahead. Not looking forward to that! I'll just have to live vicariously through you this Summer. Love your wellies too!
