A new journey...........

This is my first attempt at blogging...forgive me if I fall, I am clumsy at this. I have been a antique- junk-stylist for the past 19 years(the picture posted is a little corner of my booth) and I just recently decided to take a break from the junking business and give up a booth I have been renting the last 19 years to try something different...what? I guess I am open to whatever comes my way...kind of exciting! maybe this blog will lead me to what I am looking for..In the mean time I will continue to feather my nest with all things tattered and worn...

I love your first blog. I too was nervous to starting a blog this past October and I find I learn new things each time. I was in an Antiques Mall when new owners took over, and I didn't like there management style, so I packed it up until I too decided what I wanted to do. I had been doing Antique Shows for about 2 years prior to leaving the Mall, and while I find my best sales are at Shows, it's difficult for me to do them since I still work full time. I'm back in another shop, but as you, yearn to either have my own shop or continue to do more shows. I too am a stylist and would also re-do my booth on Fridays after work. Now that the shop I'm in is in another town, I'm lucky if I get to re-do it once a month. Since I love styling my space, and I bore easily, I'd love to be able to re-do my space more often. So, in the meantime, until I also decide which direction to go, I'll continue what I'm doing. Good luck on blogging and your antiques,

Hi Theresa, thank you for being my first blog responder! How do you do it girl? kids, full time job and your space at a shop? when do you find the time to go junking? I love estate sales, but I did find it getting harder and harder to find good junk. What is your full time job? I understand about your space being in another town...the shop I was in was an hour away! take care, Gail

I work fulltime as a state employee. I've been there 24 years, so I can't just walk away, even though there are days all I want to do is Antiques. I really have to plan my time, but it doesn't always work out. Our oldest son lives in Austin and so we plan around him. Our younger son is still at home, so that makes it nice. Because my every waking moment and my passion is my Antiques, that's what I consider my therapy. You are right, it is getting harder to find good junk; we go to estate sales and the canton flea market to find things, but everything has gotten so expensive.
Keep in touch,
Theresa
