A little more detail...

Hi. Heidi asked a very good question about my last post. She wanted to know if my headboard was made out of a door? I just take for granted you would know these things but why would you? The answer is yes! my hubby made it quite a few years ago out of an old door, I think I found it at a sale for a buck or two...He added some trim work and I still love it to this day! Heidi also asked what the white bucket by my fireplace mantel was? It is called a firkin or sugar bucket and was used to store sugar...I love the old white worn paint! the picture on the right is a table and mirror I painted black and added to the top of my stairs..I really like the black with the new blue paint. Keep those questions coming, I am more than happy to answer them!

I wish my husband was that handy, but I have to rely on Daddy who lives 750 miles away. My dad was a carpenter by trade, and boy do I miss his wood working. I married a machinist not quite the same. But dad did teach me a thing or two about wood. Love the room!!!!

Good morning Gail (well it is morning here)! I knew I saw an old door in that headboard. Next question...can I borrow your DH? LOL! I need a headboard for my guest room but it is like pulling teeth to get my DH to try doing anything. He is not into DIY.

I love absolutely everything about the picture at the top of your stairs. I love black and wood combined. I also adore old mirrors. I used to have one that was my great aunt's when I was in the US. I think you did this all just right with the black transferware plate and the topiary plant. It looks so wonderful! I am really enjoying seeing little corners of your beautiful home.

Hugs ~

Gail,

Everything looks wonderful, the color, the furniture, the accessories. You have a husband to help you paint, a fireplace mantle and comfy chair in the bedroom...you are a lucky girl.
