Thankful tonight......

What started out to be a happy welcome home Grandma! occasion turned into a bad dream....Addi and I and my two sisters were so excited to welcome my Mom back home from the hospital yesterday. We were busy unpacking Grandma and as quick as I turned my back, Addi grabbed a steaming cup of hot coffee off the table and poured it over herself...she screamed so hard. We quickly took her little sweater and onesie off and she was bright red. Thankfully my Mom lives in a assisted living and we called the nurse, she said take her to ER. Another blessing is that the hospital is connected to the assisted living. My sister and I ran Addi to the emergency room...she had second degree burns on her little arm! She had to be taken to the burn unit and seen by a specialist this morning and she is bandaged up and doing well. I can't explain how badly I feel. I am thankful tonight that she is home and playing with her big sister. I am thankful that I am blessed with two very quick thinking sisters who are there for me always. And I am so thankful I have a very understanding niece (Addi's Mom)......

Poor Addi and poor you. It is so hard not to feel it is your fault, but you did the right thing and Addi will be fine. She will never remember this and you will never forget. I know because a neighbor's child burned himself very, very badly on my hibachi when he was about 15 months old. He is fine (18 yrs old) and doesn't remember anything about it. I still cry when I think about it.

Oooh poor little thing. {And you too!} Accidents happen, but you feel so guilty nonetheless.

Glad she is going to be alright. - And that your mom is back. I hope she's doing well.

Oh my, I'm so sorry this happened! Poor little Addison, I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. I understand how badly you must feel too, but accidents do happen unfortunately. I hope you are both doing ok.

Oh, poor little Addi!! She will feel better in no time.

You are all so quick-thinking to take off all of her clothes like you did. Your quick thinking made a bad situation a little bit better!

How is your Mom doing?

xoxo,
martha

Oh the poor little darling! Don't blame yourself those little buggers are so quick. My mom turned her back for one second when my brother was 2 and he pulled an hot iron down from the ironing board. It landed right on his wrist. He had second degree burns as well and doesn't even have a scar from it today.

Hope Addi heals up quickly!
